Vacationers often like to bring back souvenirs from their destination. Many beach towns have shops that consist of clothing, coffee mugs, picture frames, a lot of similar things. Cape May offers something else….an incredible farmers market. Open every Tuesday from 3pm until 7pm, visitors can purchase produce and other food products to make for dinner that night, or save for another night.
Jersey Tomatoes-Jersey Corn-Jersey Peaches
New Jersey is called the Garden State for a reason. It is one of the leading producers in many different fruits and vegetables in the country. Surrounding Cape May is a lot of land that New Jersey farmers use to grow their products. People can purchase things like corn, peaches, string beans, squash, asparagus, blueberries, and of course, Jersey tomatoes. Along with fresh produce, many vendors will sell locally harvested honey, vinegar, herbs, and flowers that they have grown. From 5pm until 7pm at the farmers market, there is also live entertainment. There will be a DJ or a local band putting on a show for everyone.
Many vendors also have stands setup for you to sample their products. This can range from ice cream, lemonade and crab cakes. There are also some arts and crafts stands, so while you browse around the market, the younger kids can be easily entertained.
